The long Winter months are a great excuse to get all cozy in your pjs, and spend a bit of extra time pampering yourself on these cold, dark, evenings. So I thought what better to do during my "Twelve Days of Christmas" post than give you a little insight into my Winter Nighttime Routine.

First up is the relaxation part of my evening, and I like nothing better than getting home from a busy day and wapping on my pyjamas, putting on the kettle, and allowing my brain to wind down whilst reading a good book. I find that oversized t-shirts and shirts are super comfy when huddled under a blanket, and you can always add some thick fleece bottoms, if like me, you are currently sat in a house with a broken boiler! And as a Northern lass, nothing can beat a nice strong cuppa!

In terms of reading, I love to read anything not related to my work when I get in, be it a fashion magazine, one of my favourite books, such as The Bell Jar, or this one, by Roddy Doyle, which was recommended to me by my Dad. Now onto the bit you've all really been waiting for, my nighttime skin care routine!

Remove Your Makeup...

Making sure you have removed all your makeup is the first important step in any nighttime routine. For me, Garnier's Cleansing Water is just perfect! Applying a small amount to a cotton bud gently removes all my makeup, leaving me fresh faced and ready for the next step in my routine.

Wash Your Face...

The next step in my routine is to wash my face. Originally I used the the Clinque cleansing soap, but as a student, I couldn't afford to replace it when I ran out, so I opted for the Soap and Glory Facial Wash, which let me tell you, has left me feeling fresher than a baby's bottom (or so to speak...). Applying a small pea sized amount to wet hands, I gently rub it all across my face, rinsing it off after around two minutes of gentle exfoliating.
The Serum...

Next up is the Body Shop's Vitamin E oil, a recommendation from my good friend Lucy, who you can find over at Dinosaur Dances. I apply a few drops to my face, and then gently rub it in, to make sure that my face is fully plump and oiled.

The Spot Treatment...

Next up in my routine is the spot treatment, which if unlike me, you have perfect skin, you can afford to skip this step. However, if you have a few blemish areas, this step is one for you! Applying a small pea sized drop to your finger, and then dabbing it to your problem area makes all the world of difference when you have a second head!

Moisturise...

The last step in my nighttime routine is that of moisturising, which is so important to me with my slightly drier skin! After applying a pea sized amount to my face I am all ready for bed, with beautiful clean feeling skin.

I hope you are enjoying my Christmas series, and stay tuned tomorrow for another installment!

  1. I love the Emma Hardie oil I'm using just now, but I'm keen to try out others and I've heard good things about the Bodyshop one. Do you ever wear it during the day? I usually add oil to my moisturiser in the morning, but I'd worry about this one being too greasy. What do you think?

    1. I only wear this overnight, and I already have quite dry skin, so I don't find this too greasy at all. Once its applied my skin doesn't feel greasy at all, just soft and moisturised H xx

  3. I am excited to share this testimony, I was 3 years ago diagnosed of fibroid and complicated Endometriosis. My medical condition was heart broken because it was causing my menstrual cramps, bloating before menstrual periods, lower abdominal pressure which result to heavy periods. I was subjected to different medications by my doctor for treatment . Despite my visit to several doctors my health wasn't getting better, all they could say was surgery. At the verge of giving up, I went to the internet to search for a treatment at least. But I found a cure instead. In the internet, I read a testimony of a lady who had Fibroid. She shared an e-mail address of the Doctor. Luckily everything seemed to be okay after I took the Herbal Medicine. I wish I could say that’s the end of it because I haven't had any symptoms since then. Do not expose yourself to more danger, use a herbal remedy that is safe and effective. if anyone here need help in curing his/her fibroid or trying to conceive should also contact him also have herbal medicine for HIV, Herpes, Cancer, Hepatitis etc and deal with spiritual problems too once again you can email him via email address drafridherbalhome@gmail.com. or call/whatsApp him on +2349057260738, you can still know more about him on his website:http://drafridherbalhome.webs.com
