An Italian Christmas Evening

Dolce and Gabbana

Recently I received an email from Farfetch telling me about a competition to create an outfit or wish list centred around one of Dolce and Gabanna's iconic "Sicily" bags. Along with the bag, the wish list could only feature items from Dolce and Gabanna sold on the Farfetch site itself (which, let me tell you, were in abundance). This was an exciting challenge for me, as I rarely look at designer brands, other than in pictures from the runways, so trawling through all the items from Dolce and Gabanna not only left me drooling, but also with a hefty Christmas life to post to Santa!

I decided to create an "Italian Christmas Evening" moodboard, featuring interchangeable pieces that created the most beautiful night time wardrobe, all centred around the Small "Miss Sicily" Shoulder Bag. For me, this bag was the perfect pick. The monochrome colour means it goes with every item, whilst the fur not only provides a bit of texture, but adds a bit of glamour and 'on trend' status.

When looking for items to go with the main attraction, I wanted to incorporate some sophistication whilst also adding colours associated with Christmas, such as red and green. All the items are luxurious yet practical, and for me, embody the traditional yet modern Italian women that Dolce and Gabbana try to embody in their brand. All the pieces were chosen for their versatility, the modern Italian women could wear them for a business do, an evening party with friends and family, or a night out.

Items such as the Flared Tweed Dress are perfect for drinks after work, or a Christmas family dinner, whilst items such as the Green Velvet Blazer are perfect for a night out with friends. Keeping to a simple, yet somewhat Christmassy colour scheme, whilst mixing up the textures with lace, silk, and patterns such as Leopard Mary-Janes and the Floral Jacquard Trousers keeps this wardrobe exciting. The classic cuts and silhouettes, along with the traditional style means these pieces will carry you from season to season, year on year. Adding the Siciliy bag completes the look, and its shoulder strap makes it perfect for running from work to party whilst all the while feeling utterly fabulous!

So that's it, I hoped you enjoyed seeing my "Italian Christmas Evening" moodboard, and enjoyed seeing something a bit more luxurious on Barefoot Bravery. Now tell me I'm not the only one lusting after those Leopard Print Mary-Janes...?
